Billboard Hot 100, 19th December 2009

Before the singles, here's a quick album chart update: Topping the chart for a second week is Susan Boyle with I Dreamed a Dream pulling in a staggering 500k haul on top of the 700k she did last week, bringing her to a total of 1.2 million, which could overthrow Taylor Swift's Fearless for biggest selling album of the year. Billboard predict next week sales could top 600k.

1. Empire State of Mind - Jay-Z featuring Alicia Keys
2. Bad Romance - Lady GaGa

If statistics were available for the public to view, I would imagine that the difference between Jay-Z and Lady GaGa would be pretty slim. For the third week running Jay-Z and Alicia Keys hang onto the top spot with "Empire State of Mind," however losing its bullet, which could mean good things for GaGa next week who remains at #2 with "Bad Romance" with a bullet, still this weeks digital gainer.

3. TiK ToK - Ke$ha
5. Replay - Iyaz

Also remaining in the same spot is newcomer Ke$ha with her debut single "TiK ToK," I predict the highest this will go is #2 as "Bad Romance" will probably dominate the chart for a good couple weeks after "Empire" loses steam, however she's also got fellow-newcomer Iyaz nipping at her (nose--it's christmas!) this week he ascends to #4 with his debut single "Replay."

7. Sexy Bitch - David Guetta & Akon
9. 3 - Britney Spears

David Guetta and Akon's "Sexy Bitch" rises one notch to #7. Is anyone still surprised Britney is still in the top 10 for its ninth week? It's amazing considering there's been zero promo for the song, I thought it would have lost power weeks ago. This week it rises(!) one spot up to #9.

13. Already Gone - Kelly Clarkson

I guess the message here is: Never underestimate Kelly Clarkson 16 weeks ago I dubbed this a flop, however within the last couple weeks, her latest single "Already Gone" seems to have done an complete one-eighty. This week it rises one spot up to #13, above her is Beyonce and Lady GaGa, I'm kind of doubting she will score a top 10.

19. Do You Remember - Jay Sean featurign Sean Paul & Lil' Jon

Jay Sean scores his second top 20 with "Do You Remember" ("Down" is falls to #10 this week).

23. Fifteen - Taylor Swift

Before scanning through the Hot 100, I commented on Mel's blog saying I wish Taylor Swift's "Fifteen" had been a bigger hit, and to my surprise this week it inches closer to the top 20, rising a solid 5 spots up from last week landing at #23.

39. Gangsta Luv - Snoop Dogg featuring The-Dream

Lead signle from Snoop Dogg's thenth album, Malice n Wonderland, "Gangsta Luv" featuring The-Dream scores the rapper his eighth top 40.

i'm quite happy with the slow climb of Already Gone - years ago in the UK Eternal Flame by the Bangles debuted at something like 74 and months later topped the chart. I'm a sucker for the longevity under dog :)

I love the underdog too! WOW! Eternal Flame, you still remember that? Wasn't that like 20 years ago?
