This time last year, the buzz was surrounding, Leon Jackson--The X-Factor's fourth winner; putting out his remake of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston's, "When You Believe" which became the Christmas #1 as predicted. Looking to be following in the footsteps of Leona Lewis ("A Moment Like This"), Shayne Ward ("That's My Goal") and the show initial winner, Steve Brookstein ("Against All Odds") is the show's latest winner, Alexandra Burke, 20 from London.
Her remake of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," (which I first heard in, Shrek (2001) is actually pretty notable. Generally when an X-Factor winner records their debut song, it's more about the event of winning the show--but Burke gives an outstanding vocal performance. The only other X-Factor single I've liked is Leona Lewis remake of Kelly Clarkson's, "A Moment Like This." With only 3 days left until the Christmas edition of the UK sinles chart, "Hallejuah" currently has the fastest selling single in the UKs history, moving 105,000 copies in just 24 hours. Expect a pretty debut next week.
